The first time I saw Paradise Lost: The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills, a 1996 documentary about the West Memphis Three was maybe during the Chicago Film Festival and definitely at the Music Box, arthouse and independent movie theater.
Something random made me remember Abu Ghraib last night, and I had a serious meltdown. Remember when we all called George W Bush dumb? That worked so well, really moved the needle. Really appreciate your take on the elitism thing. I’ve had 20-some years in NYC but I’m from the Midwest. As much as I wanted to distance myself from Ohio my first years here, I now feel a lil defensive when I hear my lefties talk about “flyover country” and conservatives. I disagree with Trumpers on almost every aspect, but the way we talk about them isn’t helping anyone, & it’s not a good look. I’ll be thinking more about this!
